Disney princessesWhile it’s too late to unring the bell of princesses and wedding dreams, we thought we’d at least attempt some degree of detox by nixing Disney movies for now.

See, I fully support the girls getting married and having babies…some day, far, far in the future. But R started to obsess about the details of her wedding day; so far, it’ll be on a beach and in a castle, with a white dress and wings and sparkles; her husband is variously dad, the prince and Cinderella, or Z.

bob and wendyTo help bring her out from under the romance spell that every animated movie from the twentieth century apparently casts, we thought we’d dip into the great educational shows that are available with our new Fios service. Like a dummy, I thought Bob the Builder would be a great alternative. Tools, trucks, the “Can we fix it? Yes we can!” cheer – a total 180 from Snow White and Sleeping Beauty, right? Yeah, until the episode came on in which Wendy is invited to give a speech at a restaurant grand opening and invites Bob as her date! Oh, and then at the shoe store, R finds the “Bob the Builder’s Valentine’s Surprise” book.

Are you kidding me?! Maybe I’ll stick with Zoboomafoo instead…
