Here’s the gist of a conversation overheard between R and Jack this past week. The scene is that R is trying to show off her new fan (folded by dad) to Jack. Jack, for his part, is busy “measuring” using a tape measure clipped to his pocket (Josh’s early training).
R tries getting Jack’s attention with, “Jack, look.” (Jack ignores her.) “Look, Jack.” (Jack continues ignoring her.) R tries a new tactic. “Jack, measure my fan.” (Jack…is oblivious.) “Jack, measure my fan.” (Jack measures…something else). “Jack, talk to me!”
At this point, both Josh and I start laughing at what is the age-old guy/girl interaction. Crazy that it starts this early. Meanwhile, Jack actually takes a moment to measure R’s fan.
R’s response? “Not like that, Jack. Do it this way.” Both dads are again on the floor laughing. Classic.
