A couple of funny tales from Rebecca’s wonderful success with teaching R to read and write:
During a car ride the other day, I hear R yell from the back of the van, “Mom, which one is H? One-line-down, one-line-down, one line across or one-line-down and a hump?” When told that both are H, she yelled back, “But which one is lowercase?” Wow, this from our 4-year-old! I’m impressed by both Rebecca and R!- This morning while keeping me company during breakfast preparations, R says to me, “I’m a lowercase kid.” “What’s that?” I asked. “R, Z, and M are all lowercase kids,” she replied casually. “Why’s that?” I asked. Here explanation: “Because we’re short“
