As part of C’s homecoming, we wanted to give the other girls small presents as both a celebration of our latest addition as well as something new to occupy them as we all worked through the transition of having a newborn. Rebecca found a great deal on a huge lot of Groovy Girl dolls and accessories and I found a great deal on a digital camera. They’re having a blast with both!

Mind you, this is a “real” digital camera – a Poloroid 7 megapixel point and shoot with all the features of our Canon. I got it for $40 (refurbished) and it might possibly be the best money I’ve ever spent on a gadget! Somewhat surprisingly, the girls are taking some great shots of C and each other. I’ll be featuring some of their photos in the gallery shortly. Meanwhile, while they need a bit of help putting the camera on video mode, as you can tell, they are both able to use the camera really well!

Ah…fondly do I remember the day I got my first camera (with flashbulbs!) and a tape recorder so I could create my own “multimedia” It amazes me that a four- and five-year-old can manage to use a sophisticated digital camera with such ease! And it makes me wonder how much richer the archives of their childhood will be with full motion video to look back on!

Welcome to our family C Grace!

On Tuesday, June 30, C Grace entered the world at 6:15 PM. She weighed 7 lbs, 15 oz and was 21 inches long. She has beautiful long fingers and toes and amazingly long eyelashes!

Mom and C are doing great and plan to come home this morning. Check out the gallery for more photos (which, unfortunately, are mostly lo-res; since the pending video is in HD, that should compensate for the mistake)! Dad and the other girls are taking one day at a time – everyone is still on an anxiety-high after the final weeks of waiting for C and the excitement over wanting her to come home!

Now that we have a new member of our family, I suppose I’ll have to update the site banner graphic! While I’m at it, I may change the entire theme, so don’t be surprised if you see major changes here!

Happy Birthday Z!

OK, so I’m a bit late, but Happy Birthday Z! She celebrated the big 0-4 this past Tuesday, though we celebrated her big day over the weekend as Grandma and Grandpa were in town. We had a fun weekend together, enjoyed the beautiful weather, church and “FamJam” (a kids worship program), and lots of playing and talking! Here are just some of the fun moments we had…

In the interest of shameless (or is it shame-ful?) self aggrandizement, I hereby submit a Happy Birthday post to myself and my sister, Shanna. November and December Photo Galleries

I finally got my act together and loaded our photos from November and December, so enjoy! The December gallery includes photos from R’s birthday party (she’s almost 4!). We started by having the kids (as heroes) and parents (as villains) act out a story written by Adam and Rebecca. It included princesses, knights, giants, treachery, dragons, and rescue. Kinda sounds like the beginning of the Princess Bride! The girls received pink capes and the boys got tunics (handcrafted by the crafty Roades’). After the story, we opened presents, ate lunch and cake, and let the kids just have fun. Everyone seemed to have a great time, especially R whose experience was, of course, most important!
